LITHO PRINTING
Many customers believe that Commercial Litho Printing is a similar process to printing to a laserjet or deskjet printer, but they are in fact very different. The methods used in Commercial Litho Printing are very specific and this often causes confusion among customers.
Litho Printing is a mechanical process where ink is deposited onto a printing plate in microscopic dots and this is in turn 'pressed' onto the paper. Office printers utilize driver software that 'electronically corrects and optimizes' the print job to look very similar to the on-screen view.
Preparing a Litho print run is a lot more complex. Artwork files need to be of a certain standard with the correct parameters to ensure a good result. Artwork also needs to be stepped up to fill an A2 sheet which is why only certain file types can be used.
